The Biden Administration Effort To Tackle Climate Change

White House Green Energy Push

The Biden administration has unveiled a plan to expand the nation’s  offshore wind energy industry in the coming decade by opening new areas to speed up permits, and boos financing for green energy projects.

The plan for wind power generation comes after the Biden administration’s ending of new oil and gas leasing auctions on federal land, part of the president’s campaign promise of a permanent ban on new federal oil drilling.

The industry will employ around 40,000 people directly by 2030 and support 33,000 jobs, so the administration says, with an additional mention that they would be “good-paying union jobs.”

The USA currently has just two  offshore wind farms, the 30-MW Block Island Wind Farm in the state of Rhode Island and a two-turbine project off the coast of Virginia. There are more than 20 Gigawatts of new projects in  different stages of development.
