With not one but two Californian districts in its books, Lion Electric is making strides toward strengthening its electric school bus presence in the state.
The order from Los Angeles, is a big win for the company that could lead to many more orders moving forward.
The electric school bus can also produce around 1,800 ft-lb of torque. Lion Electric has also built in a wheelchair lift on each bus to transport all students safely in line with state regulations. The first deliveries of LionC buses should begin before the end of the second quarter, according to a press release from the company.
The custom LionC buses are partially funded by the district’s School Bus Replacement Program. After months of evaluation, Lion was awarded five out of the six possible categories. The Program ranked Lion the highest performing producer and the manufacturer with the most cost-effective bid.
By having the nod of approval from the state, as well as the most competitive bids for its electric bus, Lion looks set to continue their successful strides into the U.S electric vehicle market.
